Sailing School
“It is not that life ashore is distasteful to me. But life at sea is better”. Sir Frances Drake c.1540-1596. Vice Admiral of the Elizabethan Navy.
Legend accounts there was once an old Naval Captain who resided at Waternook. His name, Sir Alexander Arthur Walker Bart, his grave can be seen up at St. Peter’s church laden by a large anchor.
With over half a mile of lake frontage, boathouse and private jetty Waternook offers its guests the perfect location for both the hardened experienced sailor and those just starting their voyage of discovery. The Ullswater Yacht Club (a Royal Yachting Association champion club) can offer an introduction to sailing and RYA training for those wishing to improve their skills for pleasure or for racing.
Alternatively, have you considered chartering an Ullswater 'Steamer' for that special occasion or why not partake in a RIB Ride experience out on the water? View our Country Pursuits page for further details.
